Philips Semiconductors and Embedded Internet Solutions to Provide a One-Chip Solution for the Digital Convergence Market
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Philips Semiconductors, a
division of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG; AEX: PHI), today announced
its plan with Embedded Internet Solutions Inc. (EIS) to provide a one-chip
solution for the digital convergence market.
EIS, a leading provider of
embedded software for Internet appliances, will provide the browser for
embedded systems via its primary product, iPanel(TM).
iPanel(TM) is a browser
that is ported to the Philips Semiconductors TriMedia(TM) Media Processor
platform as part of a stand-alone internet appliance solution allowing for the
navigation of the worldwide web in multiple applications. EIS will provide Philips Semiconductors customers with software design and
development services for its TriMedia(TM) TM1300 series of one-chip solution
processors.
EIS' iPanel(TM) MicroBrowser is architectured for embedded
systems with special considerations towards portability, resource usage, and
hardware requirements.
As a browser engine, iPanel(TM) supports application
plug-ins and is in compliance with the latest open standards such as HTML 4.0,
